Person-Centred/Humanistic Counselling is based on the philosophy that individuals are full of potential for growth and given the right conditions, people are all capable of being creative, loving and knowledgeable. It is enabling of you making discoveries about your feelings, your blind spots, your needs and desires.
- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a way of talking about – How you think about yourself, the world and other people (our cognitive processes) & how your actions (behaviour) affect your thoughts and feelings. Breaking problems down into smaller manageable parts makes it easier to see how they are connected and how they affect you.
- Mindfulness is a state of being in the present moment where you aware of your body, thoughts, surroundings and feelings. The purpose is to learn how to concentrate on each moment without judgement, and recognise that holding on to negative feelings is unhelpful.
- Relational Gestalt Psychotherapy makes use of the idea that we have the capacity to solve our dilemmas ourselves but often apply old solutions to current difficulties. In this way we can find ourselves repeating the same patterns over and over again without realising what we are doing or why. Gestalt therapy helps you to identify repeated patterns; enables you to notice; to become more conscious of your feelings, thoughts and reactions and to resolve these. An increasing awareness helps you to discover new and creative choices, new behaviours and healthy change in the face of life’s challenges.
- For example, as you come know yourself better, you may discover how you participate in or create relationships that are either fulfilling or unfulfilling. When you understand how you are in relationships (with your partner, family, friend or work colleague), the quality of those relationships change and often move in a more positive direction.

- Clinical Hypnosis enables you to reach a deep state of physical, emotional and mental relaxation. When in hypnosis the conscious mind is side-stepped and allows you to tap into information that lies in the unconscious mind and make positive changes to thought patterns, habits or the effects of traumatic incidents that are having a negative impact, physically or mentally.
- Supervision is designed with two things in mind:
To protect clients and to improve the ability of counsellors to provide value for their clients
The supervisory relationship protects clients by involving an impartial third party in the work of counsellor and client. In the interests of both clients and counsellors, most professional bodies require members to incorporate supervision into their practise.
Supervision is an opportunity for Counsellors to review their work with clients, their professional development, and often their own personal development. Supervision is a professional service that provides a space for counsellors to reflect on how they relate to clients, as well as gaining insights from the perspective of another therapist.
